Kiddie rides are coin-operated rides for small children. Kiddie rides are most common in supermarkets, grocery stores and malls. However, they can also be found in amusement parks, arcades, hotel game rooms, auto dealerships, restaurants and discount department stores. When a coin is inserted, the kiddie ride entertains the young child with some sort of motion, depending on the type of ride it is. Most rides also include sounds and music, and features such as flashing lights, pedals, and buttons. The big draw for commercial stores to bring in kiddie rides, is due to the attraction it brings. Young kids are easily attracted, thus bringing their parents in to the store. Restless or bored children are engaged by the rides while their parents shop without hurry. Although kiddie rides are primarily used to reap extra income for commercial areas, they are becoming increasingly common, and leave children with happy memories of going to the store with mom.
