This enables one teller/ cashier the ability to check out numerous patrons at the same time. The interactive kiosk was developed in 1977 at the University of Illinois as a way for students to find movies schedules, bus schedules, maps, directories and maps for the university. Florsheim Shoe Co. was the first retailer to use the kiosk in a commercial capacity.
